James Gunn has clarified the cast profile for Wonder Woman
DC Studios, under the leadership of James Gunn, has begun to finalize its casting strategy for Wonder Woman, one of the most critical characters in the new DC universe. According to recent leaks, the studio is aiming for a Diana Prince who is closer to the comics in terms of both physical appearance and age for the new cinematic portrayal.
Physical Characteristics and Age Criteria Sought for Wonder Woman
According to the information shared, James Gunn is looking for an actress who is tall, in her 20s, and skilled in martial arts. These criteria indicate that the character will be positioned not only as a mythological figure but also as a warrior who stands out for her physical strength. The height criterion, in particular, suggests a more faithful approach to the portrayals of Diana Prince in the comics.
The fact that Wonder Woman will be portrayed by a young actress is noteworthy in terms of the overall age balance of the DCU. While some characters in the DC universe, such as Hal Jordan and Guy Gardner, are expected to be interpreted by more mature actors, positioning Diana in her 20s suggests that Trinity will be built on a more dynamic and long-term structure overall. This choice could also pave the way for the stories to be told in a plan that spans years.
This new approach is distinctly different from Gal Gadot’s interpretation of the character in the past. Gadot’s journey as Wonder Woman, which began with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016, received great attention, and her solo film in 2017 received a strong response from both critics and at the box office.
