Marvel Studios is working on multiple mutant projects
Marvel Studios doesn’t seem content with just the long-awaited X-Men return. With the Multiverse Saga nearing its end, rumors suggest the studio is making extensive plans for a new era focused on mutants. Recent claims indicate that Marvel is developing not just a reboot film, but numerous mutant-centric projects simultaneously.
Marvel Prepares to Expand the Mutant Universe
According to industry sources, Marvel Studios is positioning the X-Men reboot as the beginning of a larger narrative. Following Avengers: Secret Wars, a new era known as the “Mutant Saga” is expected to begin, with different mutant stories progressing in parallel. This suggests that the X-Men will take on a more central role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
At the center of the rumors is Wolverine. According to Daniel Richtman, known for his reliable leaks, Marvel is working on a standalone project focused on Wolverine. Whether this will be a classic solo film or part of a larger storyline is unclear, but it’s being discussed that the character will play a key role in the mutant narrative.
The biggest question at this point is who will play Wolverine. While Hugh Jackman’s iconic portrayal of Logan still has a strong impact, there’s a possibility Marvel might turn to a different actor in its long-term plans. The possibility that Dafne Keen’s Laura/X-23 character could take over the Wolverine legacy in the future is being seriously debated among fans.
All eyes are now on the period after Avengers: Secret Wars for these projects to become clearer. It’s thought that Marvel Studios will bring both familiar faces from the old X-Men universe and new mutant characters to the stage with these two major Avengers films. Although official announcements have yet to come, it now seems almost certain that Marvel doesn’t intend to limit mutants to just one film.
