Marvel’s Wolverine May Have Been Censored in Some Regions
Marvel’s Wolverine is being discussed in relation to claims that scenes depicting the relationship between Mystique and Tyger may have been altered or completely removed in some versions released in the Middle East. Screenshots and videos shared on social media show that some references to the marriage of the two female characters differ from other versions. However, since Sony or Insomniac Games have not yet made an official statement on the matter, it is not clear which countries are affected and to what extent the changes are.
Claims of Changes to Mystique Scene in Marvel’s Wolverine
One example shared by players suggests that an image showing Mystique and Tyger’s wedding day has been altered. Another post shows a letter referring to the characters’ relationship presented differently. Similar claims exist, particularly regarding the Lebanese version.
More striking evidence comes from a video shared within the Marvel’s Wolverine community. The player claims that sections depicting the relationship between Mystique and Tyger were cut from their version, initially believing it to be a mistake. It’s noteworthy that while some scenes where Mystique refers to Tyger as her “husband” are cut, the background audio continues.
Sony and Insomniac have previously implemented regional edits. Some Middle Eastern versions of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 had Pride flags removed and some relationship references in a mission featuring a gay couple altered. Therefore, a similar approach to Wolverine is possible, but it hasn’t been confirmed yet.
Regarding the censorship allegations, we are currently relying on player reports. A potential statement from Sony would clarify whether there was indeed a deliberate difference in content between regional versions.
