Monster Hunter Stories 3 Twisted Reflection Releases Trailer

Capcom has released both a new story trailer and a 13-minute detailed developer gameplay video for Monster Hunter Stories 3 Twisted Reflection, the latest installment in their turn-based RPG series. This spin-off series, exploring the Monster Hunter universe from a different perspective, returns with a darker and more dramatic narrative centering on the fate of two kingdoms. The released content provides a clearer picture of both the story tone and gameplay systems.

What Does Monster Hunter Stories 3 Twisted Reflection Offer?

The developer video, presented by lead gameplay designer Daisuke Wakahara, covers many details, from the character creation process to advanced combat tactics. Players take on the role of the heir to the kingdom of Azuria and, as the only Rathalos Rider with special abilities, investigate the mystery threatening the world. The story focuses on the destruction of two nations, Azuria and Vermeil.

The most striking element highlighted in the trailer is the twin Rathalos emerging from a mysterious egg. While the appearance of this monster, long thought to be extinct, seems like a glimmer of hope, the birth of a second Rathalos is interpreted as a sign of an ancient catastrophe. Environmental degradation and the threat of monster extinction foreshadow an impending war.

In terms of gameplay, the egg-hunting system, Habitat Restoration mechanics, and turn-based combat are expanded with deeper tactical options. Compared to previous games in the series, it aims to offer a more comprehensive progression structure and larger exploration areas. The Monstie system is also designed to be more strongly connected to the story.

Monster Hunter Stories 3 Twisted Reflection will be released on March 13th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, and PC. The new images shared by Capcom clearly show that the series aims for a more ambitious narrative and system depth with this third main game.
