Multiplayer Horror Game SAW: Genesis Announced

SAW: Genesis, announced by Broken Mirror Games and Anshar Studios under the publishing of Bloober Team, is a new multiplayer horror game. Inspired by the SAW universe, the title will pit players against each other in an asymmetrical three-on-one battle. On one side is the Judge, who controls the traps and gameplay from the shadows, while on the other are three Accused attempting to escape a deadly labyrinth. The game will initially be available in early access on Steam for PC.

SAW: Genesis Offers an Asymmetrical Horror Experience

SAW: Genesis takes place in the dark atmosphere of the post-World War I era. Players will face a different challenge in each match on procedurally generated maps. This structure means that paths, trap layouts, and escape plans will change each time. Focusing on short but intense matches, the game will bring the themes of choice, sacrifice, and cost-paying from the SAW series to a multiplayer environment.

The player taking on the role of Judge will emerge as one of the early architects of the Jigsaw philosophy. However, this character won’t be entirely physically dominant like in classic asymmetric horror games. Judge will be vulnerable and won’t be able to defeat Accused characters solely through brute force. Instead, they will utilize hidden corridors, take advantage of the sound detection map, and slow down opponents with hallucinogenic gases and paralyzing toxins.

The three players on the Accused side will have to work together to survive. Players will complete objectives, collect items, find keys, and search for a way out of the maze before time runs out. However, as time progresses, the characters’ willpower will weaken, and the risk of falling into Judge’s rehabilitation traps will increase.

One of the most striking aspects of SAW: Genesis will be the lasting consequences of the traps throughout the match. If a player sacrifices an arm to escape, solving puzzles and countering will become more difficult. Injuring a leg will reduce their movement speed, making them easier to corner by Judge. This system makes every decision not just a momentary escape, but a heavy price to pay for the rest of the match. SAW: Genesis stands out as a gritty multiplayer experience that combines the horror genre with competitive pressure, teamwork, and brutal choices.
