Outward 2 Early Access Release Date Announced
Outward 2, an adventure RPG, has finally received a release date. Developed by Nine Dots Studio, the sequel will be available in early access on PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG on July 7th. A closed beta will also begin on May 26th for those who want to try the game early. For those who enjoyed the first game’s tough survival gameplay, this sequel aims to offer a bigger and more refined experience.
Outward 2 Will Offer a More Challenging Adventure
Outward 2 will take players back to the brutal world of Aurai. However, here we are not the chosen one or legendary hero as in classic RPGs. The game centers on the perilous journey of an ordinary adventurer. Therefore, preparation, reading the environment, and accurately assessing risks will be as important as fighting. Even dropping your bag before engaging in combat can be a critical decision for survival.
The sequel aims to build upon the strengths of the first Outward. The studio says there have been significant improvements in character creation, the progression system, storytelling, world design, and combat. Players can shape their own journey by choosing from three different starting scenarios and 11 backgrounds. And defeat doesn’t end the adventure; you’ll have to live with the consequences.
The world of Aurai is now more vibrant, supported by a seasonal cycle. A full annual season system will change the atmosphere and gameplay of four different regions. In addition, the new Exercise system will allow passive abilities to evolve based on the equipment and play style used by the player. So your character will grow as much through your play style as through the choices you make in the menu.
On the combat side, ritual spells, different weapon move sets, and smoother animations stand out. Inventory management will also be at the heart of the game; your inventory will save you, but excess load can slow you down. There will also be a winnable pack mule and support for both online and two-player split-screen co-op. Outward 2 isn’t a relaxed RPG; but it could be just the right amount of adventure for those who enjoy a challenge.
