Slay The Spire 2 Early Access Release Date Announced
Slay The Spire, one of the first games that comes to mind when you think of roguelike deckbuilders, is returning years later with a true sequel. The early access release date for Slay The Spire 2 has been officially announced, and this time the timeline is quite close. The series, which has a large share in the genre’s current popularity, aims to take the formula even further with the second game.
Slay The Spire 2 Enters Early Access in March
With the trailer shared by Mega Crit, it has been confirmed that Slay The Spire 2 will begin its Steam Early Access process on March 5, 2026. The release, initially planned for the end of 2025, was postponed last year to maintain quality standards. The studio stated that they made the decision to extend the process to lay a stronger foundation for the game.
The sequel will not only add new cards and characters to its predecessor. One of the most notable innovations will be a four-player co-op mode. This mode will feature specially designed multiplayer cards and team synergies. In short, the classic single-player tower-climbing experience will gain a different dynamic through teamwork.
The first game, released in 2019, was one of the titles that brought the roguelike deckbuilder genre into the mainstream. While many similar games have been released since then, Slay The Spire 2 retains its advantage as a benchmark for the genre. Therefore, the early access period will be closely watched, not only in terms of content updates but also in terms of the future of the genre.
With the March game calendar already quite busy, the release of Slay The Spire 2 seems like a strong alternative for card-based strategy fans. Now the real question is whether this sequel can recapture the impact of the first game.
