Trump is to Blame for the Resident Evil Requiem Collector’s Edition

Resident Evil Requiem has been in the spotlight since its announcement, both for its gameplay details and edition options. However, the absence of a collector’s edition didn’t go unnoticed by longtime fans of the series, quickly sparking a major debate.

Why Was the Resident Evil Requiem Collector’s Edition Canceled?

While there’s no official explanation for the cancellation of the collector’s edition, industry sources suggest the reason is the increased production costs. New customs tariffs, particularly those implemented following US-based policies, have significantly increased the cost of physical gaming products.

According to a reliable industry leak source, Capcom has deemed it economically unsustainable to create a collector’s edition for Resident Evil Requiem consisting of physical items such as statues, figurines, special boxes, etc. The primary reason cited is the significant increase in production and logistics costs due to tariffs implemented during the Trump administration.

Recently, many major publishers, not just Capcom, have begun taking similar steps. Rising console prices, increased accessory costs, and the simplification of physical versions are seen as a result of cost pressure across the industry. Resident Evil Requiem appears to be one of the projects affected by this trend.

While a classic collector’s edition isn’t being offered, Capcom hasn’t left fans completely uninformed. The Deluxe version of the game includes digital content, while specially designed steelbook versions and figurines (to be released later) will offer alternatives for players seeking collectible value for Resident Evil Requiem.
