When you want to play Paladin in Baldur’s Gate 3, you will see three subclasses. In fact, there is one more subclass hidden from them. It’s called an Oath Breaker Paladin, and you have to do some things to unlock this subclass.
Where Does the Baldur’s Gate 3 Oath Breaker Paladin Come From?
When you choose your subclass at the beginning of the game, you take an oath as a Paladin, and each subclass has to do different things to break the oath. I will explain what you need to do in which subclass.

Oath of the Ancients
The in-game description of the Ancients Code is as follows: You are fighting on the side of the light in the cosmic struggle against darkness to protect the sanctity of life and the beauty of nature.
- You can kill any innocent person.
- In the 1st part of the game, free the goblin named Sazza in the Druid camp where the Tieflings are located.
- By killing the pohua (owlbear) and his child.
- By resurrecting Mayrina’s husband.
- By killing the Pandirna in the Druid camp.
- By killing a dog named Itch
- By killing the guards who try to arrest you if you commit a crime in the 3rd part of the game.
Oath of Vengeance
In-game explanation: By putting aside your own naivete, you are dispensing justice to those who have committed the most unforgivable sins and correcting mistakes.
- In the 1st part of the game, free the goblin named Sazza in the Druid camp where the Tieflings are located.
- By killing a dog named Itch
- In the 3rd part of the game, if you commit a crime, by killing the guards who try to arrest you.
Oath of Devotion
Description in the game: Following the ideals of the brave knights, you act with honor and virtue on the path of supreme goodness.
- Torturing Liam at the goblin camp
- By allowing Arka to kill the goblin named Sazza in the druid camp.
- By killing the Tieflings who captured Lae’zel.
- By killing an innocent person
- By killing a dog named Itch.
- When you break the oath, you will gain a debuff for a short time and your character will say “As if I lost something”. When the war is over, a short cinematic will enter and you will see the Oath Breaking Paladin.
He will say he wants to see you at camp. If you accept his offer, you will become the Oath Breaker Paladin.
The abilities of the subclass you have will change with the abilities of the Oath Breaker Paladin. It will tell you that if you want to change your class from Withers, you have to repeat your oath. You can take the oath again for 1000 gold by going to the oath-breaking paladin in your camp.
