Will Nioh 3 be Released on Other Platforms?
With only a few days left until its release, one of the biggest questions surrounding Nioh 3 has resurfaced. The final trailer released for the new game, which appears to be a PlayStation 5 exclusive, contains a striking detail suggesting Team Ninja is pursuing a more flexible platform plan this time.
Nioh 3 Offers Hope for Other Platforms
The small text at the end of the trailer confirms once again that Nioh 3 will be released simultaneously for PlayStation 5 and PC. The most noteworthy point, however, is that the exclusive agreement for the console side is limited to six months. This statement clearly reveals that the game is not a permanent PlayStation 5 exclusive and opens the door for other platforms.
With the six-month period now over, attention has naturally turned to the Xbox Series X|S. While previous games in the series have never been released on an Xbox console, this time the situation might be different. As of August 2026, there are no official obstacles preventing Team Ninja from bringing Nioh 3 to Xbox, and this possibility has created significant anticipation among Xbox owners.
On the other hand, Nintendo’s next-generation console, the Switch 2, is also a strong contender. While the original Switch hardware was deemed insufficient for the Nioh series, the Switch 2’s technical capabilities are considered sufficient to run a more modern and comprehensive game like Nioh 3. Therefore, it’s also possible that the six-month waiting period was used to prepare the Switch 2 version of the game.
Team Ninja’s recent strategy of releasing both PS5 and PC games on the same day clearly demonstrates their desire to reach a wider audience. The high number of concurrent players for the demo on Steam also proves this strategy is working. Putting all of this together, the possibility that Nioh 3 will not be limited to PlayStation and will eventually appear on more platforms seems stronger than ever.
