Will Spider-Man Appear in Marvel’s Wolverine?
Marvel’s Wolverine has heightened excitement with its new gameplay trailer, and one of the biggest questions on players’ minds was whether Insomniac would connect to the Spider-Man universe. The studio, which has built a strong Marvel universe with characters like Peter Parker, Miles Morales, and Venom, is now focusing on Logan. While some expected a small Spider-Man scene due to the game taking place in the same universe, the studio chose to clear up the confusion early on.
Spider-Man Announcement for Marvel’s Wolverine
Insomniac Games confirmed that Spider-Man will not be in Marvel’s Wolverine. Creative director Marcus Smith stated that the game takes place within Insomniac’s 1048 Marvel Universe, meaning it shares the same world as Spider-Man games. However, he clearly stated that there will be no crossover and Spider-Man will not appear in the Wolverine adventure.
This announcement might be a little disappointing for fans who wanted to see the two characters in the same game. After all, Spider-Man and Wolverine have appeared together many times in the comics, and their dynamic is quite popular in the Marvel universe. However, Insomniac’s decision seems logical from a story perspective. The studio specifically emphasizes that the existence of mutants is not yet widely known in this universe.
In this case, it’s quite natural that Peter Parker’s path wouldn’t cross with Logan’s. If Spider-Man is unaware of the existence of mutants, there’s no strong justification for him to be included in Wolverine’s story. Insomniac clearly wants to tell Logan’s first major adventure in its own tone, with its own characters and a darker atmosphere. This could prevent the game from being overshadowed by Spider-Man.
However, it’s hard to say this door is completely closed. If Insomniac continues to expand the Marvel universe, a much more suitable ground could be created for a future Spider-Man and Wolverine encounter. A meeting of these two characters at a point where mutants are openly integrated into the world would be quite exciting. However, for now, Marvel’s Wolverine will focus on Logan’s story, and Spider-Man will not be involved in this adventure.
