A New Animal Crossing-like Game Exclusive to PlayStation has been Leaked

PlayStation has long been known for its action-packed and story-driven titles, but it seems the company is preparing to invest in a calmer, more social experience. According to a new rumor, Media Molecule is working on a new game inspired by titles like Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon. The project hasn’t been officially announced yet, but initial details suggest a very different PlayStation game might be on the way.

A New Social Lifestyle Game for PlayStation is Being Prepared

According to the leak, Media Molecule, known for Dreams and LittleBigPlanet, is developing an unnamed open-world game planned for release in 2027. It’s suggested that the game will have a life simulation feel similar to Animal Crossing, while also incorporating some ideas from Harvest Moon. However, at this stage, there is no official information about the game’s name, story, or core gameplay loop.

One of the most striking points is that the project isn’t being developed with a live service approach. Despite this, it’s stated that the game will include some social features. This means that online interactions won’t completely disappear. In fact, it’s even thought that these social systems could be more extensive than the multiplayer structure in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Media Molecule’s history also makes the project more interesting. With Dreams, the studio offered players powerful tools to create their own games and worlds. If this approach is carried over to the new project, a life simulation could emerge where players can shape their homes, environments, and even worlds on a much larger scale. However, this part is currently just a guess based on the studio’s past.

According to the leak, the full announcement of the game may not happen before 2027. Therefore, many things are still possible during the development process. Sony and Media Molecule have not yet confirmed the project. Nevertheless, the fact that a more relaxed and social game similar to Animal Crossing is being prepared on the PlayStation side suggests that the company may be expanding its exclusive game lineup in a different direction.
