The New Resident Evil Movie has Become the Best Adaptation of All Time

Resident Evil has been one of the series that has divided gamers regarding its film adaptations for years. Zach Cregger’s new film, however, seems to be changing that picture even before its release. Resident Evil Achieves 96% on Rotten Tomatoes

Zach Cregger’s new Resident Evil film has achieved a 96% score on Rotten Tomatoes based on 80 reviews at the time of writing. Moreover, while a harsher rating was expected in full reviews after the initial social media comments, the opposite happened this time. The majority of critics consider the film not only the best adaptation in the series, but also one of the strongest video game movies ever made.

Negative reviews aren’t entirely absent. Some critics say the film’s tone is unbalanced at times, the humor is excessive in a few scenes, and the third act isn’t as strong as the previous installments. However, looking at the overall picture, these criticisms haven’t significantly lowered the film’s high rating.

One of Zach Cregger’s most debated decisions was not using familiar characters from the games. The director says this was a conscious choice, and he didn’t include characters known from the games to avoid disrupting the main story. Despite this, he believes the film is a clear homage to the games, and fans of the series will notice this.

The new Resident Evil film centers on Bryan, a paramedic played by Austin Abrams, and tells an entirely new story. The cast also includes Zach Cherry, Kali Reis, and Paul Walter Hauser. Resident Evil will be released on September 18th, and if the current critical reception continues, the series, which has been stumbling for years, may finally have a truly solid film on the big screen.
