Hori’s Zelda-themed Electronic Ocarina is Now Available for Pre-order

Ocarina, from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, is one of the most memorable things in the game, just like the game itself. Hori has created an officially licensed accessory that directly integrates it into the gameplay. The new electronic model is now available for pre-order and will work directly with the remake being developed for Switch 2.

Ocarina Can Play 12 Melodies from the Game on Switch 2

Hori’s accessory, called Electric Ocarina of Time, is priced at $49.99 in the US. The device can play 12 melodies from the game and, thanks to Switch 2’s voice recognition feature, detects the notes being played and performs the corresponding in-game action. Thus, it replaces the button combinations of the Nintendo 64 version with actual melody playing.

The electronic okarina offers two different usage modes. In Free Play mode, players can play the notes themselves and learn melodies at their own pace. Auto-Play plays one of the 12 tracks in the game with a single button press. The device is not a classic breath-powered instrument; it features a built-in speaker, volume control, and headphone jack.

Hori also includes a display stand and a quick start guide in the box. Priced at 7,980 yen in Japan, the release date is set for November 5th. The European version, codenamed NSX-261, will arrive on November 27th, although pre-orders haven’t started yet.

Nintendo has also announced it’s working on a second, non-electronic okarina that can actually be played. Its price and release date are not yet known. For now, Hori’s model appears to be both a collectible Zelda item and a fun accessory that directly connects to the game’s mechanics on the Switch 2.
