Why is Blizzard Silent about StarCraft While Diablo 5 is Coming to PC?
Although StarCraft has been synonymous with PC gaming for years, Blizzard has still not officially confirmed a PC version of the new game. Oddly enough, while the company hasn’t officially announced platforms for Diablo 5 either, a small gaffe during BlizzCon made a PC version almost certain. This naturally led to the question, “Why is StarCraft still not being officially announced?”
StarCraft PC Version Still Unofficially Announced
At the Diablo 5 press conference at BlizzCon 2026, game director Joe Shely said they couldn’t yet comment on platforms. However, the situation changed when someone from the communications team interjected with “PC version.” The subsequent joking remark implied that it was unthinkable for Diablo 5 not to come to PC. So, even without an official announcement, there aren’t many questions left about a PC version of the game.
The situation is even stranger with StarCraft. The game is set to be released in 2030, and the Xbox version has been confirmed via the Xbox UK account. Despite this, Blizzard still hasn’t announced a PC version. This silence is even more odd, given that StarCraft’s history has been almost entirely shaped by PC gaming.
When asked about it, Blizzard simply stated that they aren’t currently making platform announcements and that they plan to release Diablo 5 in Spring 2029 and StarCraft in 2030. They indicated that platform details will be shared later. This suggests that the current announcements might be part of a planned release schedule.
The widespread success of past Diablo games on PC and consoles also raises expectations. Similarly, the absence of a PC version for StarCraft is almost unthinkable. However, Blizzard’s decision to inadvertently confirm a PC version while remaining silent on the matter of a StarCraft PC release seems like just a strange communication choice for now.
