There’s no official announcement yet, but this development is seen as a significant sign that strengthens the possibility of a remaster or re-release.

The Anticipation for Black Ops 1 and 2 Begins

The appearance of new records for Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2 at a game rating institution in South Korea quickly spread within the Call of Duty community. The records show application information dated May 21, 2026 for both games, while the evaluation was conducted on May 29. While such rating records don’t always directly mean a new release, similar clues have been seen before many announcements in the past.

Another detail that caught the attention of players is the exclusion of Black Ops games from recent Call of Duty sales. The fact that Black Ops 1 continues to be sold on Steam for $39.99 and Black Ops 2 for $59.99 has led some fans to wonder if a new expansion pack is on the way. Of course, this isn’t proof in itself, but it’s a small but interesting detail that fuels the rumor.

Now, all eyes are on the Xbox Games Showcase event on June 7th. While Modern Warfare 4 is expected to be featured, players are wondering if the real surprise will come from the Black Ops side. Currently, both games are playable on Xbox One and Xbox Series consoles via backward compatibility, but they are not included in Game Pass. Access is even more limited on current PlayStation consoles.

For now, it’s unknown whether this development will be a full remaster, a campaign-focused re-release, a special bundle, or some other pre-order bonus. Given Call of Duty’s history with titles like Modern Warfare Remastered and Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered, the possibility isn’t entirely out of the question.
