Activision Paid xQc a Fortune for a One-Day Warzone Stream

While influencer marketing in the gaming world continues to grow year after year, Activision’s latest move once again demonstrates the massive budgets involved. xQc, one of the world’s most popular streamers, announced that he received a staggering $1 million for a single day of his Call of Duty: Warzone stream. Moreover, this payment was essentially a condensed version of a long-term, planned campaign.

The Behind-the-Scenes Story of the Activision and xQc Deal

According to xQc’s interview, Activision had originally prepared a sponsorship plan spanning two weeks. However, the streamer’s lack of response to offers during that time pushed the company towards a different solution. At the end of the season, Activision proposed using the remaining marketing budget for a single stream, and xQc accepted the offer.

The resulting picture was quite striking. xQc streamed Warzone for approximately 12 hours in a single broadcast and earned a “flat” $1 million in return. According to the streamer, this was the highest “one-off” sponsorship deal he had ever accepted. In his own words, earning such a large sum in such a short time was extraordinary, even for him.

This example clearly demonstrates why game companies are rapidly moving away from traditional advertising models. Instead of television, banner ads, or classic campaigns, streamers who can reach millions instantly are now at the center of marketing. The amount Activision paid to xQc is actually seen as a “logical” investment for Warzone’s visibility.

Of course, xQc is an exceptional case. Not every streamer can make such astronomical deals. However, this event clearly shows how powerful content creators have become in the gaming industry and that major streamers are willing to spend fortunes to access this power. It seems the balance in game marketing has already shifted.
