ARC Raiders Surprises Players with Denuvo Decision
ARC Raiders is taking a new step against the cheating problem that has long plagued players. Embark Studios announced that the Denuvo Anti-Cheat system will be added to the game. However, this decision has been met with some confusion among PC players. Because when the name Denuvo is mentioned, many players immediately think of performance issues and controversial DRM applications.
ARC Raiders Responds to Cheating Problem with Denuvo
With the ARC Raiders 1.29.0 patch, it was announced that Denuvo Anti-Cheat will be gradually added to the game. The system will first be tested on a limited group of players starting May 19th. Embark plans to roll out the anti-cheat solution to a wider player base after closely monitoring this process. This approach means a more controlled start to detect potential technical problems early.
The most frequently asked question among players was which version of Denuvo would be used. Embark specifically states that the Denuvo DRM system will not be used. In other words, the system added to the game will not be the well-known DRM protection for piracy; it will be a direct anti-cheat solution. This distinction is important because claims that Denuvo reduces performance are usually discussed in terms of the DRM system.
Emberk also says it is working to minimize the performance impact. Along with Denuvo Anti-Cheat, Anybrain support aims to further strengthen ARC Raiders’ security systems. Players are also asked to continue reporting suspicious activity. It seems that not only software but also community reports will play a significant role in the fight against cheating.
However, it’s difficult to say that this decision will please everyone. With ARC Raiders player numbers declining and a major content update postponed to October, the mention of Denuvo might make some players uneasy. But if cleaner lobbies are provided and serious performance issues are avoided, this move could be a positive step for the game’s long-term health.
