ARC Raiders will Punish Those Who Exploit the Dupe Vulnerability
ARC Raiders has been in the news in recent weeks, particularly due to item duping and ammo exploits. Embark Studios, which previously released a hotfix for these bugs that allowed players to gain an unfair advantage, has now announced that the investigation is complete and the enforcement process will begin. The studio stated that penalties will be implemented next week.
ARC Raiders Dupe Exploit Investigation Completed
In a blog post, Embark Studios also detailed why the process took so long. The development team emphasized that they meticulously followed stages, including verifying incoming reports with data, clarifying the scope and impact of the exploit, distinguishing between accidental occurrences and intentional abuse, and finally measuring the damage to the game economy. They specifically stated that their goal was to make a “one-time, informed, and accurate decision.”
Now that the investigation is complete, sanctions are being implemented. Embark has stated that penalties will be determined based on criteria such as severity, intent, frequency of repetition, and economic impact. For low-level violations, players will only receive a warning. However, if unfair gains are detected, in-game currency will be reclaimed.
In more serious cases, things get more serious. Users who cause significant damage to the game’s economy or negatively impact the experience of other players will receive a temporary ban. It seems a clear distinction will be made between “a one-time attempt” and systematic abuse.
Considering the upcoming Shrouded Sky update, Embark’s move is critical for maintaining the game’s competitive balance. Especially in a game reaching millions of players, disrupting the economic balance can lead to much bigger problems in the long run. We’ll see if these sanctions can restore balance on the ARC Raiders front.
