Baldur’s Gate 3 Mod Support Coming
Official mod support for Larian Studios’ popular RPG Baldur’s Gate 3 will finally be available to players and creators when patch 7 arrives in September. Larian has summarized when mod support will arrive, what it will offer, and expectations for the future of the game.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Mod Support Coming in September
Larian Studios has announced that patch 7, which will bring official mod support for Baldur’s Gate 3, will arrive in September. This patch will expand the content that players and modders can add to the game tenfold. From customizing characters to adding nuclear weapons to the Forgotten Realms, players will be able to make creative modifications.
With the arrival of patch 7, the closed alpha for modding tools will begin on Monday, June 3, with invitations to more modders being sent out over time. In July, Baldur’s Gate 3 will begin a closed beta process where all players, as well as modders, can sign up and participate in testing on PC.
“Our new modding pipeline aims to provide a convenient way for both players and creators to access and manage mods across all platforms Baldur’s Gate 3 is released on, with improved compatibility, tools, and documentation,” said Larian.
Seamless Experience with Mod.io
Official mod support will be provided through the Mod.io platform, minimizing incompatibility and stability issues. Mod.io will provide the necessary infrastructure to upload, host, manage and moderate content, ensuring BG3 mods run smoothly on all platforms, not just PC.
With the official modding tools, players will be able to make a variety of modifications such as armor, weapons, classes, spells and custom dice skins, and easily share this content. “We will never prevent modding outside of our own official pipeline, but implementing our own will improve compatibility and give us the opportunity to make sure they will work wherever you play Baldur’s Gate 3,” Larian adds.
Baldur’s Gate 3 official mod support is coming in September. A closed alpha for mod authors begins on Monday, June 3rd, while a closed beta for wider participation will begin in July.
