Black Ops 7 Receives Lowest Rating in Call of Duty History

Black Ops 7, the new installment in the Call of Duty series, was a major disappointment in its first week of release. The game achieved the lowest user rating in the series, surpassing even Modern Warfare 3. Its AI-driven innovations, online requirements, and controversial storyline have drawn significant criticism from the gaming community.

Black Ops 7 Draws Strong Player Reactions

According to Metacritic, Black Ops 7 has received the lowest user rating in Call of Duty history, falling to a 1.5 average. This score surpasses even the 2.3 rating of 2023’s Modern Warfare 3, marking the weakest launch in the series. The PC version of the game received a higher rating by just 0.1 points.

Players are particularly targeting the story mode. The exploitative “Predatory” business model, the AI-based mission structure, and the online compulsion system are drawing significant criticism. Many users are criticizing the design approach, which “punishes solo play,” and believe the game has lost its spirit.

The situation on Steam is not much different. User reviews are “mixed.” Players accuse the studio of being “completely disconnected from players’ expectations.” One user comment sums it up: “Buying this game is the worst investment you could make with your money.”

According to analysts, the main criticism is directed at the story structure. The predominance of AI in the campaign sections seems to have damaged the classic Black Ops atmosphere. With competition from strong contenders like Arc Raiders and Battlefield 6, Black Ops 7 appears unlikely to recover.

Nevertheless, Activision plans to rectify this situation with post-game updates. However, based on the current situation, Black Ops 7 appears poised to remain the “series’ weakest link.”
