Dead by Daylight Breaks Player Record After 10 Years

Dead by Daylight continues to be one of the rare examples of live-service games that have withstood the test of time. While most games lose players over time, Behaviour Interactive’s asymmetric horror game has, on the contrary, risen again with new content. 10th-anniversary celebrations, a major discount, and the long-awaited new character move have propelled the game back to the top of the Steam charts.

Dead by Daylight Reaches the Top with the Jason Voorhees Effect

With the new episode released on June 16th, Jason Voorhees finally joined the Dead by Daylight universe. The arrival of Jason, considered one of the most iconic characters in horror cinema, was a long-awaited moment for the community. This addition not only brought a new killer to the game but also encouraged veteran players to return.

According to Steam data, Dead by Daylight reached an all-time high of 125,820 concurrent players after the release of new content. This figure surpassed the game’s previous record by approximately 5,000 players. Reaching such a level 10 years after its release is a truly rare achievement in the live service sector.

The game’s rise over the years is also remarkable. In 2019, Dead by Daylight reached approximately 75,000 concurrent players, rising to 105,000 in 2021. In 2025, it peaked at around 120,000 players. The new record shows that the game has grown rather than weakened as it has aged.

Both Jason Voorhees’ contribution and the 60% discount on Steam played a role in this success. However, explaining the numbers solely through the discount is difficult. Behaviour Interactive had previously stated that the game would not be getting a sequel, but judging by the current situation, there’s little need for that. On its 10th anniversary, Dead by Daylight has proven to be one of the strongest brands among horror games.
