Epic Games Foiled the Leak with Control

The mysterious clues that Epic Games released the day before had created excitement among players. The religious-themed emojis and references to past campaigns in the clues led to speculation that a game like Sid Meier’s Civilization VI would be given away. In particular, a user named u/MeguminShiro, who had correctly predicted the previous seven games, also pointed to Civilization VI. However, this time the predictions were not correct and Epic Games announced Control as free. Interestingly, Epic Games Store had also offered Control for free in 2021.

Control puts players in the shoes of Jesse Faden, the new director of the Federal Bureau of Control. Jesse must solve the mysteries of this secret government agency that investigates mysterious paranormal events while fighting against a menacing force called the “Hiss.” Remedy Entertainment’s compelling storytelling and visually stunning environments provide players with an unparalleled experience.

The game’s system requirements include at least an Intel Core i5-4690 or AMD FX-4350 processor, 8GB of RAM, and an NVIDIA GTX 780 or AMD Radeon R9 280X graphics card. For higher performance, recommended hardware includes an Intel i5-7600K, 16GB of RAM, and a GTX 1660/1060 or AMD RX 580. The game requires 42GB of storage.

Control has received critical acclaim, with a score of 82 on Metacritic and 84 on OpenCritic. Offering telekinetic abilities, shape-shifting weapons, and a strong story, the game stands out with these features. To benefit from the campaign, players must log in to their Epic Games Store accounts and add the game to their libraries by 19:00 (UTC) on December 26.
