GTA 6’s Exclusive Record has Reached Exorbitant Prices on the Black Market
Months before its release, GTA 6 has begun to generate significant demand not only in the gaming world but also in the collector’s market. The limited edition vinyl version of Grand Theft Auto 6: The Album, announced by Rockstar Games, sold out within minutes of being available for pre-order. Soon after, the same product was seen being offered for sale on second-hand sites for several times its normal price.
GTA 6 Vinyl Sold for Prices Approaching $400
Grand Theft Auto 6: The Album will consist of 34 original tracks and will be available in different physical editions. The most notable of these is the limited edition vinyl package priced at $125. The fact that stocks sold out within minutes of pre-orders opening prompted resellers to act quickly.
Prices for the limited edition on eBay range from $300 to $350. Some sellers are even listing it for over $345, not even including shipping. Some even go so far as to offer a limited edition GTA 6 DualSense controller along with the vinyl record for around $550.
The high prices on the black market aren’t entirely surprising. Special vinyl editions of GTA 5 from years ago are now listed for prices approaching $1,000. Therefore, it’s no surprise that the GTA 6 version is already being treated as a collector’s item even before its release.
Fortunately, for those who missed the limited edition, it’s not over. Rockstar’s more standard vinyl version is still available in official stores. Exclusive variants from Walmart and Amazon have also started appearing on second-hand sites, but these are usually in the $100-130 range. However, for those who just want to listen to the music, resorting to the black market doesn’t seem very sensible right now.
