Extraction and PvE Mods for WARDOGS are Already Being Tested

WARDOGS, which has been frequently mentioned in recent weeks, especially among large-scale FPS games, will be released in early access on September 10th. Developer BULKHEAD is already looking at the game’s future after version 1.0. According to statements made during Gamescom, the team plans to add new modes to the game in the form of DLC or expansion packs in the coming years, appealing to different player audiences.

WARDOGS Adds PvE and Extraction Content to its Long-Term Plan

BULKHEAD CEO and lead producer Joe Brammer revealed that the team has a playable PvE prototype. According to Brammer, this version is still quite rough and incomplete, but the basic structure where players can go to separate areas for missions is already working. The team may consider this type of content not as a free update to the main game, but as part of DLCs that will be released over the years.

A similar idea is on the table regarding extraction modes. Brammer specifically avoids saying that WARDOGS will directly become an extraction shooter. However, he mentions a system where players could enter an extraction mode, collect equipment, and transfer this loot to their WARDOGS account for use in other modes like King of the Hill.

This approach aims to bring the game’s different modes under a single progression system. This means that future modes could be linked to the same account, equipment, and progression structure, rather than being completely separate experiences. BULKHEAD’s plan is to both finance the game’s development with new DLCs and offer players diverse gameplay options in the long term.

For now, there’s no announcement confirming the release of PvE or extraction modes. The team only states that prototypes are ready and that this is part of their long-term vision. WARDOGS will launch in early access on September 10th, and the developer’s first priority will be to bring the current experience to version 1.0. However, the fact that prototypes are already playable suggests the game could go far beyond its current modes in the future.
