Fable’s Main Story and Side Quest Durations have been Revealed
The new Fable, developed by Playground Games, will be released in 2027 for Xbox Series, PC, and PlayStation 5. During a Q&A session at Gamescom 2026, the development team revealed the approximate length of the game’s main quests and open-world content. The figures show that the game will offer different experiences for players who focus solely on the main story and those who want to spend a long time in Albion.
Fable Will Offer Approximately 20 Hours of Content in the Main Story
According to the developers, Fable’s main quests will last approximately 15 to 20 hours. This timeframe applies only to players who follow the main storyline. In other words, those who want to progress without focusing too much on exploration, side quests, and survival systems will be able to complete the game’s core story within this timeframe.
Side quests and open-world exploration are also generating similar amounts of content. Playground Games states that this section offers approximately 15 to 20 hours of gameplay. When considered alongside the main story, the total time for players who want to experience the majority of the quests and exploration content could reach 30 to 40 hours.
However, the real drawback of Fable will be its survival systems. The development team says these systems don’t have a set completion time, allowing players to spend as much time as they want. Therefore, those interested in daily life in Albion, character interactions, and other free activities will find the total game time significantly longer.
The new Fable aims to reboot the series by combining the freedom of previous games with a modern open-world structure. The fact that the main story isn’t stretched out over a massive period suggests the developers have opted for a more balanced structure rather than unnecessarily extending the content. Considering the side quests and unlimited survival systems, there will be ample play space for those who want to spend time in Albion.
