Portal Fans are Extremely Hooked on the Leaked New GLaDOS
Over 12 TB of data reportedly extracted from Steam’s old storage systems between 2003 and 2013 has revealed early versions and unused content from many games Valve worked on over the years. While significant files related to projects like Half-Life 2: Episode Three, Portal 2, Left 4 Dead, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and F-Stop were found, one of the most talked-about things on social media was surprisingly a beta model of GLaDOS.
The Early GLaDOS Design is a Hot Topic for Portal Fans
The leaked early GLaDOS model features a much more distinct human silhouette compared to the final game’s design. The lines of the structure hanging from the ceiling, particularly reminiscent of a female body, make the character’s long-discussed design approach more visible. The Portal community quickly adapted the model into various animations and began sharing them on social media.
The leaked images quickly garnered thousands of likes, and the GLaDOS design became one of the most talked-about details of the leak on platforms like Discord, Reddit, and X. Interestingly, despite the archive containing far more significant development materials exceeding 12 TB, the community’s attention was largely focused on this single model.
However, the leak also includes much more extensive material, such as early beta builds of Portal 2, an unused paint gun system, and older co-op versions. In addition, early Source versions of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and various files related to Half-Life 2: Episode Three are also being investigated. Given the amount of data, it’s highly likely that a significant amount of content remains undiscovered.
It’s also suggested that the leak may not be limited to Valve games. There are claims that files from pre-development versions of games like Dragon Age: Origins, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines, Mirror’s Edge, and Batman: Arkham Asylum may also be present in the archive. For now, among all these discoveries, the early design of GLaDOS has been by far one of the most entertaining pieces for Portal fans.
