GTA 6 Fans Have Already Found the Clair Obscur Easter Egg
Rockstar Games’ approximately 30-minute GTA 6 Extended Look video continues to be discussed not only for its new gameplay systems and Jason and Lucia’s relationship, but also for the small details in the background. In one of the scenes that fans have been examining frame by frame, a poster hanging on the wall caught their attention. Due to the font, color scheme, and expressions used on the poster, it is suggested that this may be a reference to Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
Poster in GTA 6 May Be a Reference to Clair Obscur
The detail in question appears in one of the fast-paced scenes in the video showing daily life in Leonida. The poster, seen on the wall of a room where a character is using a VR headset, initially appears to be ordinary decor. However, fans noticed that the poster’s design is quite similar to the cover art and logo of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
The strongest clue is the phrase “Tenebrae Lux” written on the poster. This roughly translates to “Dark Light” in Latin. The fact that “Clair Obscur” similarly means “Bright Darkness” in French further strengthens the reference theory. The font and overall composition also resemble the game, suggesting this might be more than a coincidence.
Rockstar Games hasn’t yet confirmed that the poster design is indeed a reference to Clair Obscur. Therefore, at this stage, the detail remains a strong Easter Egg theory devised by fans. However, considering the GTA series has made subtle references to other games, films, and pop culture elements for years, such a reference wouldn’t be too surprising.
The fact that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was released only last year makes the detail even more interesting. If the reference is truly intentional, Rockstar should have added it to GTA 6 relatively quickly. With dozens of small details already found in the Extended Look video, the number of references to be discovered in the full version of the game is expected to be much higher.
