Florence Pugh may star in The Moneypenny Diaries

Amazon claims that MGM Studios doesn’t want to limit the James Bond brand to just new 007 films and is developing spin-off projects for Prime Video. According to the latest rumor, one of these projects could be The Moneypenny Diaries, centering on the character of Miss Moneypenny. Florence Pugh is reportedly among the names being considered for the lead role, but no official agreement or casting has been announced yet.

The Moneypenny Diaries Could Come to the Screen with Florence Pugh

The Moneypenny Diaries consists of three officially licensed James Bond novels written by Samantha Weinberg under the pseudonym Kate Westbrook. In the books, Moneypenny is not only portrayed as M’s secretary, but also as a more detailed character, Jane Vivian Moneypenny, with her own past, goals, and secrets.

The first book in the series, *Guardian Angel*, takes place during the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962. The story, told from Moneypenny’s perspective, follows developments within MI6 as Bond grapples with his own problems. *Secret Servant* and *Final Fling* incorporate real events from the Cold War era and historical developments such as the Cambridge espionage scandal.

It’s currently unclear whether Florence Pugh will reprise her role in future James Bond films if she joins the project. Given Amazon’s alleged desire to develop multiple productions within the 007 universe, the series could potentially be linked to the films. However, there are no confirmed plans yet.

Pugh’s familiarity with action projects makes her a potential candidate. Known for her physical performances in big-budget productions like *Thunderbolts*, she might be suited for a more active interpretation of Moneypenny. Nevertheless, Amazon MGM has not yet confirmed that *The Moneypenny Diaries* is in development and that Pugh has received an official offer.
