Hideo Kojima said he found the portrayal of Peter Parker, who tries to remain alone in a world where everyone has forgotten him, quite successful. He stated that the most important element that made the film feel “fresh” was the re-positioning of Spider-Man as a lone hero. According to Kojima, the loneliness Peter experiences both in his daily life and as a hero gives the film a strong emotion that sets it apart from previous adventures.
The renowned director also found the film’s narrative structure clever. While the cast and story continue from the previous installment, the significant reset of Peter’s world allows Brand New Day to function both as the beginning of a new series and as a direct sequel.
