Intel Core 3 304 Beats Apple A18 Pro
The Intel Core 3 304 was considered one of the weakest models in the Wildcat Lake series, designed for ultra-low power laptops. However, new PassMark results show that this entry-level processor can perform much better than expected. Comparisons with Apple’s A18 Pro processor, in particular, suggest that Intel could become a serious alternative in the lightweight and affordable laptop market.
Intel Core 3 304 Catches Up to A18 Pro in PassMark Tests
According to the new results, the Intel Core 3 304 showed a single-core performance that reached the same level as the Apple A18 Pro. The A18 Pro offers an average single-core score of 3,982 points across 111 different samples in PassMark. The Core 3 304 previously achieved a best single-core score of 3,632 points. However, it made a remarkable leap, reaching the same 3,982 point level with the third test sample.
Looking at the average results, the Core 3 304 still lags slightly behind the A18 Pro. The current results show the Intel processor’s average single-core score at 3,676 points, making it approximately 8% slower than the Apple A18 Pro. However, it’s important to remember that the final performance figures may change with further testing due to the very small sample size.
On the multi-core side, the Core 3 304 delivers a more balanced result. Despite having one fewer core than the A18 Pro, Intel’s processor performs similarly to the Apple chip in multi-threaded tests. This suggests that the Wildcat Lake architecture can offer a highly efficient structure for everyday productivity tasks.
Intel’s Wildcat Lake family aims for faster processing at low power consumption using Cougar Cove and Darkmont cores. This approach could be particularly important in fanless or lightweight laptops. While entry-level devices like the MacBook Neo from Apple are poised to offer an efficient experience with the A18 Pro, Intel’s Core 3 304 models could provide a strong alternative for affordable Windows laptops offering more RAM and storage.
These results alone aren’t enough to make a definitive judgment, but it’s clear that the Core 3 304 has broken the perception of being the “weakest model.” If manufacturers fine-tune cooling and power limits in laptops, Intel’s new entry-level chip could be far more impressive than expected in everyday use.
