Is Resident Evil Requiem Really that Scary?

Resident Evil Requiem has received very strong feedback from both critics and players since its release. Combining the series’ classic survival horror atmosphere with modern action elements, the game is considered by many to be one of the most terrifying titles in the series. In fact, the game’s level of horror has reached such a point that even a figure who played a significant role in the series’ history seems to have complained about it.

Resident Evil Requiem in the Spotlight for its Horror Level

Hideki Kamiya, known as the director of Resident Evil 2, drew attention with his humorous comment about Resident Evil Requiem. Kamiya said the game was too scary for him and asked the developers to add a “fearless mode.”

Kamiya made a rather amusing suggestion in a social media post. The renowned developer said he wanted to see a mod in the game where zombies become cute, blood effects turn into cherry blossoms, and the music is more cheerful. According to him, such a mod would allow players to focus on puzzles and action without experiencing fear.

Resident Evil Requiem actually combines elements from different eras of the series. The game combines the first-person horror atmosphere of Resident Evil 7 with the action-oriented gameplay of Resident Evil 4, offering a very intense experience. Therefore, many players consider it one of the scariest games in the series.

According to the latest information from Capcom, new content is also on the way for the game. Photo Mode and a new mini-game will be added in May. The development team also confirmed they are working on a story DLC that will expand the story. However, whether a “fearless mode” as Hideki Kamiya wants will actually happen remains unclear for now.
