Mortal Shell 2 Release Date and Versions Announced
Cold Symmetry has officially announced the release date for the highly anticipated action RPG sequel, Mortal Shell 2. Continuing the dark atmosphere of the first game with a larger structure, the sequel promises to offer players a bigger world, more areas to explore, and gameplay shaped by different Shell options.
Mortal Shell 2 Release Date and Editions Confirmed
Mortal Shell 2 will be released on August 20, 2026 for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. The standard edition will be priced at $49.99. The Devout Edition, designed for players who want more content, will cost $59.99. This special edition will offer players 72 hours of early access and Obsidian Skins for eight Shells.
Positioning the release date for August may allow the game to stay away from the busy September release schedule. This will allow Mortal Shell 2 to more easily attract players, especially those seeking a challenging action RPG experience. The new trailer released with the announcement also highlights the game’s brutal enemies, dangerous encounters, and dark atmosphere.
Cold Symmetry states that although it’s a sequel, the game can be played standalone. This means players who haven’t experienced the first game can directly enter the world of Mortal Shell 2. The new game will feature larger areas, over 60 dungeons to explore, numerous enemies to fight, and secrets to uncover.
The Shell system will also continue to play a significant role in the sequel. Players will be able to switch between different fighters to define their own play style. Three Shells have been confirmed at launch: Tiel the Acolyte focuses on agility and hit-and-run tactics, Proxima the Broodseeker will utilize abilities designed to leave enemies vulnerable, and Eredrim the Venerable will appeal to players who enjoy dealing heavy damage with their large weapons.
