OneX Sugar Wallet Retro Handheld Console Introduced

OneXPlayer continues to push the boundaries in the portable gaming market. Having previously made headlines with its dual-screen and convertible handheld consoles, the company has now attracted the attention of retro console enthusiasts with the introduction of the OneXSugar Wallet, a model that stands out with its foldable single-screen design.

What Does the OneXSugar Wallet Offer?

While the OneXSugar Wallet looks like a classic dual-screen handheld console at first glance, it actually uses a single-piece foldable OLED screen. When unfolded, the device offers an 8.01-inch panel with a 2480×1860 resolution, and this design, with its 4:3 aspect ratio, creates an ideal viewing area, especially for retro games.

The shared teaser video shows an unconventional approach to the control layout. The asymmetrical analog stick arrangement is complemented by a traditional D-pad and four main action buttons. This design aims to strike a balance that appeals to both modern Android-based games and emulation.

The device’s Android operating system signals a wide range of software flexibility. The OneXSugar Wallet, which can be used with emulators, mobile games, and various applications, doesn’t yet have fully detailed hardware specifications, but considering previous OneXPlayer products, a mid-to-high-level performance is expected.

On the other hand, the long-term durability of foldable screens remains a question. While pricing information hasn’t been shared, the company’s previous niche products are known to have been sold at high prices. Despite this, the OneXSugar Wallet is already being discussed as a bold attempt to open up different designs in the retro handheld console market.
