Planet Zoo 2 Announced

Planet Zoo 2 has been officially announced by Frontier Developments, and the beloved zoo simulation returns with a much larger world. Developed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, the game will be released on October 13th. While retaining the creative building and management structure of the first game, Planet Zoo 2 will add significant innovations to the series with fully aquatic animals, freely flying birds, and a vast Wildlife Reserve system.

Planet Zoo 2 Will Offer a Larger and More Vibrant World

One of the most striking aspects of the new game will be the inclusion of fully aquatic animals for the first time in the series. Players will be able to build freshwater and saltwater aquariums, and design special areas for animals such as Black-tipped Reef Sharks, Hawksbill Turtles, and different fish species. This innovation shows that Planet Zoo 2 will not be limited to land animals only and will take zoo design underwater as well.

Flying birds are also among the major innovations of Planet Zoo 2. Special birdcages, support poles, and dynamic netting structures will be available for species like the Toco Toucan and Secretary Bird. Players will be able to observe the birds’ behavior both on the ground and in the air. This system could take the series to a more natural and impressive point in terms of animal behavior and habitat design.

Conservation will also play a larger role in Planet Zoo 2. Thanks to the new Wildlife Reserves system, players will not only be able to exhibit their animals in zoos, but also release them into customizable natural conservation areas after fulfilling certain conditions. This feature adds a more meaningful and environmentally focused layer to the game’s management side.

Pre-orders are already open. The standard edition is priced at $49.99, while the Deluxe Edition will cost $64.99 and will include six additional animal species. These species include the Golden Eagle, Golden Lion Tamarin, Great Hammerhead Shark, Axolotl, Blue and Gold Fusilier, and Longfin Batfish. Planet Zoo 2 is set to offer zoo enthusiasts a jam-packed sequel with career, franchise, and sandbox modes.
