Pre-development for Resident Evil 1 Remake has Already Begun
Although Resident Evil 1 Remake hasn’t been officially announced by Capcom yet, new information regarding the project’s development process has emerged. A reliable industry source claims that the remake entered the pre-production phase approximately a year ago. The main production process may begin after the studio completes its other priority Resident Evil projects.
Resident Evil 1 Remake Progressing in Pre-Production
According to the shared claim, pre-production work for Resident Evil 1 Remake began in August or September 2025. It is believed that this phase focuses on fundamental aspects such as the game’s overall design, story adaptation, technologies to be used, and production plans. However, it is specifically stated that the project has not yet entered the full-scale development phase.
It’s claimed that Capcom’s priority is currently the Resident Evil Code: Veronica remake. The production schedule for this project is reportedly progressing faster than planned, but the team is still working intensely. It’s speculated that once the main work on Code: Veronica is complete, some developers may transfer to the Resident Evil 1 Remake team.
The same source also stated that the full production process for Resident Evil Zero Remake began in 2022. This could indicate that Capcom is working on multiple remakes simultaneously at different stages of development. The fact that Resident Evil 1 Remake is only in pre-production means players may have to wait a few more years to see the project.
Capcom has not yet confirmed the existence or development schedule of Resident Evil 1 Remake. Therefore, the information shared should be considered only a claim for now. It’s unknown when the project will go into full production and for which platforms it will be released. However, given the importance of the first game in the series, it wouldn’t be surprising if Capcom were to create a new remake using modern technologies.
