Robert Pattinson Will Not Appear in the New Batman Spin-Off Films
Robert Pattinson’s Batman will not be appearing in two upcoming DC productions. Batman: Knightfall Part 1 and Clayface, while directly connected to the world of Gotham, will proceed independently from the universe created by Matt Reeves. Therefore, Pattinson will not appear in a new project as Bruce Wayne until The Batman sequel is released.
Robert Pattinson to be Separated from the Batman Universe
Batman: Knightfall Part 1 will be the beginning of a three-part animated series based on the famous comic book story of the same name. The approximately 78-minute production will focus on the struggle between Batman and Bane. In the comics, Bane unleashes criminals in Gotham, physically and mentally wearing down Batman, and then confronts the Dark Knight with one of the heaviest defeats of his career.
Another project, Clayface, is being prepared as the third feature film in the DCU’s Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters era. Scheduled for release on October 23rd, the film will star Tom Rhys Harries as Matt Hagen. The story follows Hagen, whose face is severely disfigured in an attack, and who, after undergoing an experiment, transforms into a shape-shifting, clay-based creature.
While Batman will not appear in Clayface, the film will showcase Gotham City for the first time in the new DCU. Set photos confirm the story takes place in Bruce Wayne’s city, and the character is expected to forge his own backstory before the new DCU Batman emerges. Robert Pattinson’s Batman will not be included in this universe.
Patterson is currently filming The Batman – Part II, which is scheduled for release on October 1, 2027, and will remain in Matt Reeves’ standalone Elseworlds universe. DC Studios previously stated that this Batman will not be carried over into the main DCU timeline. Therefore, a different Bruce Wayne actor is expected to be chosen for The Brave and the Bold.
