Daredevil Born Again Season 3 Brings an End to an Era
Daredevil Born Again Season 3 will represent less a new beginning and more the definitive end of the past for Matt Murdock, played by Charlie Cox. Having revealed his true identity in the season two finale and subsequently surrendered, Matt will no longer be able to separate his life as a lawyer from his masked hero persona. As the secrecy he maintained for years disappears, the new episodes will distance him from his friends and familiar surroundings.
Daredevil Born Again Season 3 Will Change Matt Murdock
At the end of season two, Matt Murdock accepted responsibility for his actions as Daredevil and did not resist arrest. This decision irrevocably changed both his personal life and his fight against crime. His identity being publicly known makes it harder to protect those close to him and takes away his freedom to act as Daredevil.
A significant portion of the new season is expected to take place in prison. Matt will be in the same environment as criminals he previously confronted and former members of the Anti-Vigilante Task Force. Facing the harsh realities of the legal system he defended outside may lead him to question his sense of justice. Furthermore, he won’t be able to rely solely on his fighting skills to survive without his suit and support team.
This story structure bears some resemblance to the third season of Daredevil on Netflix. In that season, Matt became detached from the world after The Defenders and distanced himself from Foggy and Karen. However, in Daredevil Born Again Season 3, loneliness may cease to be a temporary beginning and become central to the narrative. The story, reportedly inspired by The Devil in Cell Block D comic book, may utilize the prison setting for a longer period.
While Matt is expected to reunite with his allies in later episodes, a return to his old routine seems unlikely. With his identity revealed, facing trial for his crimes, and experiencing the legal system from the inside, his normal life as a lawyer is largely over. Daredevil Born Again Season 3 is therefore preparing to tell the story of a more fragile, lonely, and different Matt Murdock, moving away from the costume created by Charlie Cox.
