[Rumor] Bloodborne Remake Proposal Rejected
Sony’s recent closure of Bluepoint Studio caused a stir in the industry. Now, new information reported by Jason Schreier of Bloomberg paints a clearer picture of the studio’s final days. Allegedly, Bluepoint presented a Bloodborne remake, but the project never materialized. This development has naturally drawn the attention of gamers, who have long been anticipating a remake.
Why Didn’t the Bloodborne Remake Get Approved?
According to the report, after the cancellation of the live service God of War project in January 2025, Sony began working closely with Bluepoint to determine the next steps. During this process, the idea of a Bloodborne remake came up. It’s claimed that the financial projections were deemed reasonable, but FromSoftware wasn’t keen on the project. While there’s no official confirmation, sources suggest this is why the remake didn’t progress.
Bloodborne Remake wasn’t Bluepoint’s only proposal. The studio reportedly also presented new projects to other PlayStation teams. One of these was a spin-off set in the Ghost of Tsushima universe. However, this project also didn’t receive approval. Allegedly, some teams were cautious about allocating significant resources to another studio’s idea.
On the other hand, Bluepoint’s absence from the God of War remake trilogy project caused unrest within the studio. A week later, the studio’s closure was announced. This timing raises questions about the decision-making process.
Rumors about a Bloodborne Remake have persisted for years. If this report is accurate, it seems the project was seriously considered at some point. However, for now, the project appears to be shelved, and there has been no official statement from Sony.
