[Rumor] Resident Evil 1 Remake is in Development
The rumors surrounding Resident Evil 1 Remake have stirred up discussions about both the future and the past of the series. According to some reliable sources, Capcom may have already started a new remake project for the first game in the series in its early stages. There is no official statement, but the claims suggest that the company’s remake strategy will continue unabated.
Resident Evil 1 Remake Could Be a Long-Term Project
A source known in the industry as “Dusk Golem,” who has previously shared accurate leaks, states that the project is still in the early stages of development. It’s even being discussed that the game could take four to seven years to complete. This indicates that Resident Evil 1 Remake is being considered not as a short-term project, but as part of a long-term plan.
According to the same source, this isn’t the only project on Capcom’s schedule. Remakes for Resident Evil 0 and Resident Evil Code: Veronica are also rumored to be in the works. If true, Capcom’s intention to reimagine the classic era of the series with modern technology is quite clear.
Resident Evil 1 was actually remade before, in 2002. However, considering today’s RE Engine technology and the quality standards achieved in recent remakes, a potential new version is expected to be much more comprehensive. Expectations are particularly high after Resident Evil 2 Remake and Resident Evil 4 Remake.
Of course, Capcom is known to cancel some early-stage projects. Therefore, it’s too early to say that a Resident Evil 1 Remake is confirmed. Nevertheless, the possibility of a modern twist on the series’ roots has already become an exciting title for fans.
