State of Play Japan November 2025: All Announcements
PlayStation had one last surprise for gamers before the end of the year. Held in mid-November, the State of Play Japan event focused on games from Japan and Asia. The event was hosted by Yuki Kaji, the voice of Hope in Final Fantasy XIII. The event exceeded expectations, featuring both the return of classic series and brand new game announcements.
All Highlights of the State of Play Japan Event
Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined
The event opened with Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined, a reimagining of Square Enix’s legendary series. The game, unveiled with revamped visuals and a short gameplay clip, is designed in HD2D. The game’s release date was announced as February 5, 2026.
Inkonibi: One Store, Many Stories
Inkonibi: One Store, Many Stories, a standout among indie titles, is presented as a shop management simulation. Players will manage their own store while interacting with both regular and quirky customers. The game is set to release in 2026.
Coffee Talk Tokyo
Drawing attention with its pixel art aesthetic, Coffee Talk Tokyo was one of the most peaceful announcements of the event, with its warm atmosphere. Players will engage in conversations with customers in a Tokyo cafe and hear their stories. The game is set to release in 2026.
Broken Lore: Unfollow and Ascend
The horror-themed portion of the event featured two new games from the Broken Lore series. Unfollow and Ascend, both notable for their dark atmospheres, will tell the stories of different characters. These two new games in the series will be released in 2026.
Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Remake
Koei Tecmo is bringing back classic Japanese horror. Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Remake features revamped visuals and a modern control system. The game will be released on March 12, 2026.
Dynasty Warriors Origins: Visions of Four Heroes
Dynasty Warriors Origins: Visions of Four Heroes, the new content from the legendary hack-and-slash series, has been unveiled with an expanded story. The DLC, including new characters, will be released on January 22, 2026.
Gran Turismo 7 Spec 3 Update
Polyphony Digital has announced the highly anticipated Spec 3 update for Gran Turismo 7. The update will be released before the end of 2025 and will also include a paid Power Pack add-on.
MotionRec
MotionRec, featuring a striking pixel art style, will feature a gameplay mechanic that allows players to reuse motion recordings across different scenarios. The game will be released in 2026.
Wandering Sword
Inspired by classic JRPGs, Wandering Sword stands out with its expansive story and tile-based combat system. The game will be released on May 28, 2026.
No Sleep for Kaname Date – AI: Somnium Files
No Sleep for Kaname Date, the new installment in the detective-themed AI: Somnium Files series, invites players back to the mysterious dream world. The release date has been announced as February 26, 2026.
Tokyo Xtreme Racer
We’re returning to the streets of Tokyo. Tokyo Xtreme Racer is coming to PlayStation 5 with enhanced visuals and a modern physics engine. The game will be released on February 26, 2026.
Once Upon a Katamari DLC
Two new DLC packs have been announced for Once Upon a Katamari. The first pack will be available in November, while the second will be available in the winter. Each will include new accessories and remixed tracks.
Sonic x Pac-Man World Re-Pac 2
One of the most nostalgic announcements of the event was the news that Sonic will be added to Pac-Man World Re-Pac 2. The DLC, which includes three new episodes, is available immediately.
Digimon Story Time Stranger DLC
The new Digimon Story game Time Stranger will receive its first DLC in December. The pack will include five new Digimon and the exploration of a new dimension.
Super Robot Wars Y DLC
The classic mecha series Super Robot Wars Y will receive its first collaboration DLC on November 21, 2025. The update will add the Big O robot to the game.

New characters have been added to Sonic Racing CrossWorlds. SpongeBob, Nights, and Aiai will be playable in the new version of the game.
Never Grave: The Witch and the Curse
Never Grave: The Witch and the Curse, a 2D action game from the developers of Palworld, stands out with its charming atmosphere. The game will be released in 2026.
BlazBlue Entropy Effect X
Arc System Works returns with BlazBlue Entropy Effect X. The roguelite fighting game, featuring 14 playable characters, will be released on February 12, 2026.
Damon and Baby
The RPG Damon and Baby combines action and humor. Players will navigate chaotic missions with a gun-wielding character carrying a baby. The game will be released in 2026.
Kyouran Makaism
Developed by the former developers of the Disgaea series, Kyouran Makaism has garnered attention with its strategic battles and humorous tone. The game will launch on January 29, 2026.
Fate Trigger
Fate Trigger, a battle royale game, focuses on robot-assisted combat. Early access for the game will begin in January 2026 for PlayStation 5.
Octopath Traveler 0 Demo
Square Enix has released a demo for Octopath Traveler 0. The game will be released on December 4, 2026, but the first three hours of gameplay are available starting today.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls
The second beta period for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls has been announced. The test, which will begin in early December, will include new characters and the X-Mansion stage.

Region-Locked Japan PS5 Model
At the event’s conclusion, a special Region-Locked PS5 model, available exclusively in Japan, was unveiled. The console will be available in a limited region with a price tag of 55,000 yen.
