The first comprehensive story teasers for The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum have emerged, reigniting excitement for the return to Middle-earth. The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum is set to be released on December 17, 2027, and will center on the dark period before the Fellowship of the Ring. Andy Serkis will direct and also reprise his role as Gollum.

The leaked synopsis suggests the story will extend to the time of young Sméagol. While the One Ring is still in Bilbo Baggins’ possession, Gollum’s obsession with it will force him to leave his cave. The film aims to delve deeper into Sméagol’s tragic transformation and mental breakdown.
