The New PS5 God of War Game will be Announced in Late Summer
A statement by Christopher Judge, known for voicing Kratos, may have sparked the anticipated activity in the God of War franchise. Speaking at a fan meeting, Judge hinted, “You’ll probably hear about what we’re doing by the end of the summer.” While there’s no official announcement, his words have fueled rumors about a new project from Santa Monica Studio. Combined with claims of a 2027 release, expectations have risen considerably.
New PS5 God of War Game Preparing for a New Era
In his statement, Christopher Judge clarified that he will not be involved in the God of War Trilogy Remake, and that Kratos will be voiced by TC Carson in that project. The most striking point, however, is the new game being developed by Santa Monica Studio. Judge stated that this production will offer new technologies and a fresh combat system. This statement suggests that the series may once again undergo a radical transformation.
The God of War series underwent a major transformation in 2018. Everything changed, from the camera work to the narrative tone, shifting the series from Greek mythology to the Norse world. Now, a similar shift may occur. According to rumors, the new game could focus on a different mythology, specifically Ancient Egypt. This would mean a brand new chapter in Kratos’s story.
The timing is also crucial. The phrase “late summer” could point to a possible State of Play event or a major summer presentation. Santa Monica Studio’s prolonged silence also seems to be a sign of an upcoming announcement. The studio has experienced similar periods of silence before launch in previous projects.
If the 2027 release schedule is correct, an announcement this year would be quite logical. The new PS5 God of War game seems to aim to take the series to the next level, both technically and narratively. It’s difficult to say for sure until an official announcement, but it seems Kratos’s new journey may be closer than we think.
