The Request for a Non-Scary Resident Evil Requiem was Quickly Answered

Resident Evil Requiem, with its extremely high dose of horror, offers players two very different experiences. The difference between Leon’s action-heavy sections and Grace’s survival-focused horror moments is striking, and this atmosphere can be too intense for some players. Even a prominent figure in the series requested a less frightening option for Resident Evil Requiem.

The “Non-Scary Mode” Debate for Resident Evil Requiem

Hideki Kamiya, a Capcom veteran also known as the director of Resident Evil 2, drew attention with a social media post. Kamiya, noting the intense horror elements in Resident Evil Requiem, jokingly stated that he wanted a “non-scary mode.” He even mentioned a fun idea like blood effects turning into cherry blossoms.

Capcom’s official Resident Evil account responded to this request in a rather humorous way. The shared image showed a scene where a zombie bites Grace, but in a cute way. The zombie character was given cat ears and rosy cheeks, and cherry blossom petals were scattered around.

Of course, after this post, the question arose as to whether a “fearless mode” would actually be added to the game. However, game director Koshi Nakanishi hinted that there are no such plans at the moment. According to the statements, new content is being prepared for the game, but it focuses more on different features.

A new DLC, photo mode, mini-games, and an as-yet-unannounced surprise content are planned for Resident Evil Requiem in May. Therefore, while there may be new things on the way for fans, a special mode that reduces the horror element of the series doesn’t seem very likely at the moment.
