The Witcher 4 Map Size Revealed
CD Projekt RED gave hints about The Witcher 4‘s map size during a podcast. Game director Sebastian Kalemba and general producer Gosia Mitrega stated that The Witcher 4’s map will be “roughly the same size” as The Witcher 3’s map.
The Witcher 3 Aims for Quality
The studio emphasized that the focus in The Witcher 4 is quality over quantity. It was stated that the map could be “90, 85 or 100 percent” the size of The Witcher 3, while the quests were approached with a similar approach and aimed to have as much content as The Witcher 3’s.
The Witcher 3 map was around 142 square kilometers in size, including all DLC and additional areas. It included areas like White Orchard, Velen, Novigrad, Toussaint, The Skellige Isles, and Kaer Morhen. While it’s not yet known what areas The Witcher 4 will include, it’s expected that some new locations will be added depending on where Ciri’s journey takes her.
CD Projekt RED is promising that the game will be big and will offer plenty of content for fans to enjoy. Given the success of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, players have high confidence in the studio. There’s also the possibility that The Witcher 4 will receive DLC just like the third game, potentially increasing the game’s size even more.
