Todd Howard’s comments about Elder Scrolls 6 caused confusion
Todd Howard, the iconic figure of Bethesda Game Studios, has once again become the center of attention with his recent statements. Howard, currently on an intense promotional tour for the new season of the Fallout series, has confused fans with his remarks in various interviews. The question of which project is receiving more attention – Elder Scrolls 6 or the Fallout series – has become even more controversial with these latest statements.
Is Elder Scrolls 6 or Fallout the Priority?
In a recent interview, Todd Howard stated that a large portion of the Bethesda team is working on Elder Scrolls 6. This statement was interpreted as a positive signal for the game, which has been silent for a long time. However, just days before this, Howard’s statement that the Fallout series is currently the studio’s most intensively worked-on franchise presents a contradictory picture.
Howard explains this situation with Bethesda’s long-standing “overlapping development process,” meaning the studio is working on multiple projects simultaneously at varying intensities. However, his statement that the majority of the team is working on Elder Scrolls 6 while simultaneously referring to Fallout as “the series we’re working on the most” makes it difficult to establish a clear priority ranking.
A similar explanation came regarding Fallout 76. Todd Howard stated that this game is still the most actively supported project. This shows that work on Fallout isn’t limited to new games; existing titles also hold a significant place.
According to the known plan, Elder Scrolls 6 is Bethesda’s main focus after Starfield. Fallout 5 is seen as the project expected to follow. However, there is still no concrete development regarding possible remasters or spin-off projects in the Fallout universe.
Todd Howard’s statements, while confirming that Elder Scrolls 6 is in development, indicate that Bethesda’s priority map is still not entirely clear. Fans are focused on a single question: Which one will come first?
