Who Will be the Second Playable Character in God of War Laufey?

When God of War Laufey was announced, one of the biggest surprises was Faye taking on a leading role. However, early leaks of the game suggested that not only Faye, but also Tyr might be playable. This claim, which didn’t seem very reliable at the time, was later taken seriously again after some other details in the leak turned out to be true. Now, a vague answer from Tyr’s voice actor has further strengthened the rumor.

Tyr May Be Playable in God of War Laufey

Diogo Morgado, who voiced Tyr in European Portuguese in God of War Ragnarok, was asked about his potential appearance in God of War Laufey during a State of Play broadcast in June. Instead of directly answering, Morgado laughed and talked about how restrictive NDAs can be. He even said he would rate “how hard it is to keep your mouth shut” on a scale of 1 to 10 after the broadcast.

This certainly doesn’t confirm that Tyr is in the game, let alone that he’ll be a second playable character. However, some details from an earlier leak that turned out to be accurate make things interesting. The same leak suggested Faye would be the main character, that multiple mythologies would be incorporated into the story, and that she would have a cube-shaped companion. The cosmic cube, Phranque, was later officially announced.

Tyr’s fit into the story is also quite logical. The character has a background as a traveler exploring different cultures and mythologies. Everywhen in God of War Laufey is described as an extraordinary realm where gods and creatures from different mythologies converge. Therefore, Tyr could be used to show events Faye missed or to provide a second perspective on the story.

Of course, there’s still a big question mark regarding the timeline. God of War Laufey begins after Faye’s death, but Tyr is alive during Ragnarok. How much Everywhen bends the rules of time and reality could be a determining factor here. While it’s not yet confirmed whether Tyr will be playable in God of War Laufey, new clues have made this old rumor much more intriguing.
