Work Continues on the New Mass Effect
The new Mass Effect game continues development despite cancellation rumors that have surfaced in recent weeks. BioWare reiterated both EA’s and the studio’s commitment to the Mass Effect universe in an official statement released during N7 Day. The statement emphasized that the teams are fully focused on this project and that the long-awaited new game will be a comprehensive production.
BioWare Breaks Silence About the New Mass Effect
In a blog post shared on BioWare’s website, series executive producer Mike Gamble directly addressed the recent rumors. Gamble clarified that the new Mass Effect has not been canceled and that the team continues to work on the project at full capacity. The studio stated that both EA and BioWare “have many more stories to tell in this universe.”
Gamble stated, “The last few years have been incredibly busy for us. We are now fully focused on Mass Effect. We are building a vast universe, new features, and even new relationships.” He also asked players to be patient, stating that the content to be shared will be quite exciting when it is ready.
The new Mass Effect project was revived after the release of Dragon Age: The Veilguard. However, the studio’s decision to focus on the new game confirmed that production is continuing, contrary to recent rumors. The BioWare team describes the project as a “flagship of the future,” despite the restructuring process it has undergone in recent years.
Uncertainties surrounding Mass Effect and BioWare were further exacerbated by the potential sale of Electronic Arts. Rumors of EA’s $55 billion acquisition have sparked concerns about the studio’s future. Some BioWare employees have even expressed concerns about how the sale will affect the studio once it is finalized.
Despite all this, BioWare maintains that the new Mass Effect is progressing as planned and will remain true to the series’ roots. While no release date has been released yet, the studio emphasizes that development is progressing “at the right pace and on target.”
