007 First Light Switch 2 Release Delayed

007 First Light was preparing to come to Nintendo Switch 2 after its release on other platforms, but things didn’t go as planned. The Switch 2 version, previously expected to be released in September, has been delayed again. IO Interactive says that this version of the game needs some work on performance and overall quality.

007 First Light for Switch 2 Delayed to March 2027

According to a statement from IO Interactive, 007 First Light will be released for Nintendo Switch 2 in March 2027. A specific date has not yet been shared. Since the game was released on other platforms in May, Switch 2 owners will be able to play the reinterpreted origin story of James Bond approximately 10 months later.

The studio states that the extra time will be used directly to polish the Switch 2 version. Specifically, the aim is to bring the performance side to the level players expect. In other words, IO Interactive has chosen to put the game in the oven a little longer rather than releasing it as is and then patching it.

For those who don’t want to wait, there’s a small consolation: the Switch 2 version of 007 First Light will be playable at the Tokyo Game Show. This means players attending the show will be able to see how the game performs on the portable console much earlier than March 2027.

Another question players are curious about is the physical version. Some users want a physical Switch 2 cartridge containing the entire game instead of a Game-Key Card. IO Interactive hasn’t made any statement on this yet. For now, the only thing certain is that 007 First Light’s journey to Switch 2 has been extended a little further, with a new target of March 2027.
