Mysterious Game Test Further Strengthens Injustice 3 Possibility

So many clues have surfaced recently about Injustice 3 that the game has become one of the industry’s not-so-secrets. NetherRealm has previously stated that they are working on other projects besides Mortal Kombat, and some voice actors have also made statements about the new Injustice game. Now, a rather interesting game test announcement has been added to these.

Mysterious Game Test for Injustice 3 Reveals a New Clue

A short-lived announcement revealed a player test for an unannounced “AAA-level large 2D fighting game.” The game’s name was naturally not mentioned, but the details in the announcement significantly reduce the options compared to existing projects. Well-known large fighting games like Virtua Fighter Crossroads and Dead or Alive 7 have a 3D structure.

What makes things even more interesting is the location of the test. The event reportedly took place in Culver City, California. While NetherRealm is headquartered in Chicago, Warner Bros. Discovery has significant operations in Culver City. Location alone isn’t enough to definitively say it’s Injustice 3, but combined with other clues, it’s enough to raise eyebrows.

Previously, statements from the voice actors of Superman and Green Lantern hinted at working on Injustice 3. Considering NetherRealm’s confirmation that they’re working on projects outside of Mortal Kombat, the possibility of this mysterious AAA 2D fighting game being a sequel to the Injustice series is becoming increasingly strong.

However, there’s still no official announcement. Since the deleted test announcement didn’t explicitly mention NetherRealm, Warner Bros., or Injustice 3, all the pieces currently form a strong theory. But if we’re looking for an unannounced big-budget Western 2D fighting game, the list of candidates isn’t exactly long.
